GMA 7Kris Aquino rejects GMA 7 apology

Thus declared TV host and actress Kris Aquino even after GMA Network apologized to her over an e-mail that criticized her talk show and her personality, for publication in tabloid columns.
Aquino is apparently still intent on fighting it out with the rival of ABS-CBN through an 80-million-peso libel suit she filed recently.
In an interview on the evening news program "TV Patrol" on ABS-CBN last Tuesday, Aquino said, "The e-mail clearly stated that it was made for 'Sis.'" She was referring to the GMA morning talk show that is in the same time slot as "Good Morning, Kris" that she hosts on ABS-CBN. "It said 'pakisulat naman ito at ilagay ninyo sa column ninyo.' It had come from the other station and a lot of people received it."
Aquino last Monday sought 80 million pesos in moral damages from GMA 7 public relations executive Ma Teresa "Tet" Defensor and four other GMA 7 executives for an e-mail that Defensor reportedly sent some tabloid writers last week.
Last Monday, GMA 7 "apologized for the inconvenience" that the column feed might have caused Aquino. The GMA 7 statement, signed by president Felipe Gozon and EVP Jimmy Duavit, said the column feed was sent to tabloid writers without their knowledge.
Aquino's lawyer Sigfrid Fortun said his client did not accept the apology of GMA 7.
"It was a statement of regret for an inconvenience," said Fortun. "But the wrong done on Kris was not an inconvenience but a purposeful attack on her person."
Also charged with libel were Gozon, Duavit, VP for entertainment Wilma Galvante and public relations OIC Butch Raquel.
Last Tuesday, Raquel told Inquirer that he neither knew of the column feed nor ordered Defensor to send it.
"It's very clear in the (GMA) statement," he said. "The network has no knowledge of the e-mail. Tet admitted sending it out."
One of the recipients of the e-mail, Abante columnist Jojo Gabinete, published it in full in his July 9 column. He, however, identified the sender and printed the accompanying note in which Defensor requested that the item be included in his column.
Defensor still refused to comment even in the face of rumor that she is ready to resign from GMA because of the e-mail incident.
In her affidavit, Aquino said the column feed implied that she is "promiscuous and a woman with loose morals who should not be listened to nor viewed as host of a morning TV program." The e-mail also referred to "Good Morning, Kris" as "pure commercialism."

Kris drops R80M suit vs GMA-7
Kris Aquino has withdrawn her R80-million libel suit against GMA-7. Accompanied by boyfriend James Yap, Kris appeared at the sala of Judge Selma Alaras of Branch 62, Makati Regional Trial Court on Monday (Aug. 8) to sign her affidavit of desistance, which meant she is no longer interested in pursuing the case which she filed against the network last year.
Kris initially wanted to pursue the case till the end, but after the case was dismissed by the court following her signing of an affidavit of desistance, the top female TV host of ABS-CBN told reporters "I followed by mom’s (former President Cory Aquino) advice not to pursue the case. Sabi niya, sa GMA-7 naman ako nag-umpisa ng career ko." Kris, who was in good spirits and was visibly in her best elements and looked fashionable even in her casual attire, said she decided to settle the case last Monday (8/8/05) because of the two 8’s that day which she believed was a good day for a reconcilation.
Kris agreed to drop the case in exchange for a personal apology from GMA Public Affairs Chief Butch Raquel and former GMA-7 PR girl Tet Defensor who e-mailed statements to movie columnists which Kris believed were derogatory to her person so she filed a libel case against the network, Raquel and Defensor. Because of the case, Defensor lost her job at the network’s PR department. The network issued an apology last year yet.
Hereunder is Butch Raquel and Tet Defensor’s letter of apology to Kris:
"We apologize for any injury that may have been inflicted on your person as a result of the publication of the column feed. We assure you that we did not have the intention to ridicule and embarrass you."
Kris also said she doesn’t have time to indulge in long-running cases like this; she’d rather devote time and effort for the preparation of her wedding to her cager beau. They plan to exchange "I Do’s" in February next year, at the Baclaran Church.

Ang nilalaman ng rejoinder affidavit ni Tet Defensor, dating program publicity manager ng GMA-7, ang katibayang mapanghahwakan ngayon hindi lamang ni Kris Aquino kundi pati na ng ABS-CBN na totoo palang sadya at pinagsusunugan ng kilay ng Kapuso network ang pagbira ng personal sa kalaban nilang

Sa kanyang huling pagkakataon ng kanyang sinmupaang salaysay ay naibigay ni Tet sa korte ang mga dokumentong naglalaman ng mga detalye kung paano tinatrabaho ng Siyete ang kanilang ANTI-ABS "NOISE". Ayon kay Tet, wala pa siya sa siyete ay meron nang pangyayaring pagpaplano, Feb.19,2004

Ang nilalaman ng e-mail ay puro negatibo sa mga programa ng ABS-CBN, humaba nang humaba ang dokumento dahil sa pagpapalitan ng opinyon ng mga kinauukulan, pero ang kabuuan ay nakatutok lamang sa kung paano nila ibabagsak ang lahat ng artista at programa ng Dos. Unang halimbawa, tungkol kay Kris Aquino na nagsampa na ng kasong libelo laban sa mg ehekutibo ng istasyon na nagkakahalaga ng P80-M dahil sa lumabas na press release ng Siyete nung July 9 na puro kasiraan nito ang nilalaman, ay ganito ang sinasabi sa dokumento:
"What about... Kris Aquino, turn-off na ang mga viewers kaya tsugi na ang show at kahit anong show pa siya ilagay...NEGA ang perception. Liar sya.I rest my case. (Santiago,Gigi Q.)

Attached is a copy of the original message marked as Annex C." Nasa dokumento rin ang komento tungkol kay Bernadette Sembrano, dating host ng Wish Ko Lang na lumipat na sa Dos, tinawag nilang "Halik ni Hudas" ang paghalik ng mabait na host kina Ms. Charo Santos at Ms. Cory Vidanes.
Tungkol naman kina Piolo Pascual at Claudine Barretto ay tinawag nilang "lukewarm at flopchina" ang pelikulang Milan, hiwalay ang pag-aangat nila sa napakaliit na papel ni Iza Calzado sa Milan, na ganito ang sinasabi, "Diba, pwedeng mapalabas na it was Te Amo's Iza Calzado that saved the film from total devastation? Habang isinusulat namin ang kolum na ito ay nanlalata at napapailing kami, ang lahat ng nababasa namin ngayon sa hawak naming dokumento ay nabasa namin sa mga pahayagan,nalulungkot kami dahil ang akala nami'y personal na opinyon ng mga manunulat ang aming nabasa. They should stop this nonsense and instead dapat mas bigyan nila nang pansin kung paano gagawa nang mga tv series or shows na mas maganda at nakakahigit. Sila lang talaga ang mas napupulaan. There should be healthy competition. Sana naman ABS will not stoop to their level. Mas hamak namang famous ang ABS dahil sa TFC.
Tama kayo mga friends, dapat mas protektahan nang mga Dos ang kanilang talents ksi doon rin sila kumukuha nang kanilang incomes. D ba?
